July 4th is a day that many American's cherish because it is a time where we celebrate our freedom here in the United States and typically gather with loved ones for a good time. However, with the current pandemic, this holiday may not look like it used to. We know that many families and friends are used to coming together to BBQ, eat lavishly, and watch fireworks nearby. But many festivals and fireworks displays are closed this year, and social distancing measures are still recommended.
Even with the pandemic concerns, there are still some ways that you can celebrate safely. If you want to gather with a close group of family or friends, celebrate outdoors and wear your mask. Practice social distancing at all times as well. Don't forget to wash your hands and sanitize regularly, too.
One important thing to remember is driving safety. If you're planning on traveling anywhere, make sure that you drive with caution and are staying alert on the road. July 4th is actually a highly dangerous day to drive, especially due to the increase in alcohol consumption. You can't control the actions of other drivers, so drive defensively.
Another thing - don't drink and drive. Don't be like the people we mentioned above that you need to protect yourself from. If you're partaking in alcohol, have a ride planned. Ride-share apps are awesome to use as well as taxis. Even a good-ole designated driver is a great idea. Just don't drink and drive.
If you're traveling out of town, get your vehicle ready before you leave so you don't have any car trouble along the way. Here at New Concept Auto Service, we offer a pre-trip vehicle inspection to verify that your vehicle is in good condition to handle the drive. If not, we take care of what your vehicle needs right here at our shop.
If you're lighting fireworks, make sure they are legal. Also, don't light fireworks near others, or near homes and flammable objects. Sparklers are always a great option, plus they are legal and safe. Laws are in place for a reason when it comes to fireworks.
The fourth of July typically falls on a hot day, so be sure to remember summer safety. Stay hydrated at all times and bring extra water with you wherever you go.
If you're planning on grilling, do so safely. Don't let small children around hot grills and take caution when lighting anything. Don't leave the grill unattended for extended periods of time.
If you're celebrating outside, protect yourself from the sun. Use a sunscreen, wear a hat, sunglasses, and dress for the weather. Also, stay hydrated!
We hope that these safety tips will allow you to have an amazing July 4th holiday. We wish you the best, and happy Independence Day!
